“Speaking from the Heart” is a group where refugees are invited to talk with Americans who are open to them and supportive of their efforts to express themselves in English.

The goals of “Speaking from the Heart” include:

Dismantling the social and linguistic isolation surrounding many refugees
Helping refugees to practice English conversation
Extending friendship to one another across linguistic, cultural and socio-economic barriers
Educating each other and creating mutual understanding through conversation and interaction
Facilitating refugee integration into their community
“Speaking from the Heart” takes on the format of a COFFEE HOUR where participants are free to mingle and make friends. Snacks and beverages are available.
